Vinyasa is a style of yoga linking postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath. It is commonly referred to as “flow” yoga.  Vinyasa classes offer a variety of postures and no two classes are ever alike. A faster-paced class, you'll find a refreshing sense of bodily movement combined with mental clarity.

Yin Yoga

The name of this practice is anchored in Daoist philosophy which organizes the universe into the energies of yin and yang. The correspondences of Yin energy are slow, soft, water and lunar energy whereas Yang energy is fast, active, fire and solar energy. Hatha & Vinyasa concentrate on the muscles embody more of a yang energy. Alternatively, yin yoga focuses on the joints and fascia through a slow and internal approach. Tendons, joints, tissues, and fascia have less blood and elasticity than muscles do, therefore these areas need longer poses to gain the benefit of the practice. Long-held stretches designed to work with fascial networks and energetic meridian systems, while accounting for individual bone structure variance. Much like the symbol itself, yin and yang approaches of yoga are meant to complement each other and both are needed to create an embodied wholeness. The benefits of yin are vast. Studies suggest that this style of stretching can support us to improve our range of motion, reduce stress and improve sleep, hydrate our fascia and reduce fibrosis and inflammation in our tissue and even support bone regeneration.

Yoga with Friends

Yoga with Friends stems from our ever-popular Wednesday night Hatha Flow class that has been on the Sheer Blue schedule since the day we first opened our doors. It has evolved into a class where we welcome a simply wonderful group of humans each and every week, growing slowly as we go. It's become a true gathering of friends, and we can't wait for you to give this class a try. We'll practice your favorite yoga asana, along with a handful of new versions and postures you may not yet have tried. We add plenty of pranayama, Kriya, Energy Medicine Yoga, Meditation, Yoga Nidra and even Ayurvedic practices. It's a warm, welcoming group with hearts of gold and witty personalities. Need a place to just be? To figure out who you are or where you're going? Come join our yoga circle Wednesdays at 6pm.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

HOW TO BOOK - Must Pre-Register!

As a courtesy to our teachers who don't live within walking distance of the studio, we're asking for Pre-Registration for classes. If there is no one signed up 2 hours prior to the start of class, our teachers will plan to take the morning or night off!

Check out the schedule here on our website, or download the free Vagaro app! Find the class you want to register for and click Sign Up. The systems will guide you through the checkout process. In addition to single class purchases, we also have class packages and memberships available. You'll find those all in the Memberships & Packages section. Multi-session passes and memberships are discounted over the single class pass rate for when you want to join us more, for less!

WHEN DO I SHOW UP?

Our Sheer Blue Crew will have the studio ready and waiting for you 15 minutes prior to the start of class. Classes will start exactly on time, so please plan to arrive early enough to find your spot and get yourself set up so you're ready to begin when class starts.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

Be comfortable. No fancy workout outfits or expensive yoga pants are required to join us, (but some of them definitely do make moving your body through class a little easier. The struggle is real, folks!) but you want to make sure that you are able to move freely and that whatever you're wearing isn't going to hinder your ability to do so. You do you - if you're most comfortable in a tank and sweatpants, wear that. If you prefer a sports bra and yoga pants, wear that. It's your experience - just keep it clean and be respectful of the other members of our community.

SHOULD I EAT FIRST?

By no means do we want you to be starving when you come to classes, but showing up directly after a huge breakfast from The Hotel Fremont or after polishing off 1/2 a pizza from The Bridge Bar probably isn't your best idea. Light meals prior to class are great. You can totally grab your friends and head over to one of the local amazing options for food/drink when class is over!

HYDRATE

Water is so important! Be sure to bring a water bottle along to class so you can sip when you need to. Personal story - my first in-studio yoga class experience involved me tipping over my metal bottle on a wood floor in a room-full of 40 yogis. The instructor said, 'It's not a yoga class unless somebody tips over a water bottle.' It happens! Just plan for it - only we've got tile floors, so...it's going to be like, really loud. We'll all just laugh and move on with our class. Promise!

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Typical yoga gear includes (but is not necessary and/or limited to):
Yoga Mat
Blanket (think a more stiff style - comforters are too puffy to hold your bum off the ground!)
Yoga Blocks
Yoga Strap
Bolster/Cushion

By no means do you need to run out and purchase all of this gear if you've never been to a class. We have a few mats and blocks that are available at the studio if you would prefer to try out a class before you lay down money for gear. We also have blankets, yoga straps, eye pillows and a handful of bolsters. If you would like suggestions for alternate things you can use for the above items, just reach out. We'll share some tips and tricks with you for items you can use that you probably have around the house.
If you have questions, just reach out! We're always happy to help!
Whether you're a seasoned yogi or just beginning, all questions are worth asking.
We're excited to have you in the studio and want to make it a great experience for you each and every time. We were all a new yogi at some point and know how it feels to walk into a studio as the newbie. Rest easy, all are welcome with us! We look forward to being a part of your journey.
