Inversion Sessions

NEW! Our Inversion Sessions are perfect for those who need to lengthen the spine and improve blood flow throughout the body. In a snapshot, the benefits of an inversion table include getting relief from muscle tension, improving posture, and reprieving a range of aches and pains. Sounds great, right? Right. BUT, even though the use of an inversion table may be recommended by your physician or chiropractor, many people don't use them. Why? Well, on one hand, there's the financial investment - but on the other hand, the tables are large and can be difficult to store, making them an undesirable home purchase. So - come use ours, and see for yourself of how the benefits of inverting can improve your overall health and wellness! And...let us worry about finding a place to store the table!

Why Invert?

Back Pain
Spending a few minutes on an inversion table can help with alleviating back pain and improving overall spinal health. Using an inversion table is a great alternative to full body massage when massage is neither possible or desired. The inversion stretches the muscles on your back and lessens some unnecessary pressure or compression on your spinal cord and discs. You can also stretch your abdominal muscles using it, helping you maintain good posture.

Alleviate Pressure

An inversion table can help alleviate some of the discomfort and pain associated with any injury that developed in the muscles over time. If you are experiencing any pain in your back or neck while exercising, an inversion table can be a very effective exercise aid.

Lubricate Joints

Since you are upside down and hanging, your knees, back, hips, and lower legs are properly supported by the device; there is no pressure from bending them
and overly exerting the muscles. The inversion table helps increase your flexibility, which means you are able to move around freely without damaging your joints or causing pain in your joints. This is because your body won’t have to exert too much effort in order to move.

With the use of an inversion table, your body can also improve the circulation of blood, even in the lower part of the body. Your body core becomes strengthened and toned with its help.
Is Inversion Therapy Right for You?
The benefits of an inversion table include getting relief from muscle tension, improving posture, and reprieving a range of aches and pains. While the benefits of using an inversion table are many, it is worth bearing in mind that you should only use an inversion table if you have been recommended to do so by your physician or are in overall good health but would like to enjoy some or all of the added health benefits above. As with all classes and services within the studio, participants will sign a General Liability Waiver prior to your first session. Sheer Blue can not be held responsible for issues arising  from your use of our inversion table. We will teach you how to correctly use our table and advise you to begin with short increment sessions, working your way up to a longer session over time. If you have questions regarding your personal use of the table, please reach out to your physician or chiropractor for a recommendation on whether the use of an inversion table would be in your best interest.

How do Sessions Work?

Let us paint you a picture!
We'll have the inversion table set up in the center of our studio space, placed upon our area rug, as in the photo above. Per your comfort level, the window curtains can either be left open so as to enjoy the extra light and view of the outdoors, or closed, to create a higher level of privacy. Our white massage curtains will be pulled closed to separate you from the front door/front desk area. We'll turn down the studio lights, turn up the twinkle lights and ask your preference for a music or no music. If you have something you love to relax to, let us know! We'll gladly search out a specific artist or song(s). We're happy to light the incense if that sounds good to you!

At the beginning of your first session, we'll take a little extra time to go over the details of the table with you and demonstrate how the table will function as you step on, recline back and raise back up to upright. We're happy to stay in the studio space while you invert, if it increases your comfort level, but are happy to step out to allow you to enjoy your inversion in peace, as well. It's totally up to you!
We'll start with pretty short sessions - 1-3 minutes at a 20 or 30 degree inversion. The length of time spent inverted is dependent on the angle of the table: the shallower the angle, the longer the time. Beginners should start at 20 to 30 degrees and 1-3 minutes for the first few weeks until they become comfortable with the table and are able to relax while inverted. At this angle, the body experiences mild stretching of the muscles and joints, the circulation is stimulated, oxygen flow to the head is improved and the organs are repositioned. As you become more comfortable, you can then work up to 60 degrees, or parallel to the legs of the table. At this angle, the spine is now receiving the amount of traction it needs to completely decompress. We'll keep track of your progress and how you feel as well as the time during your session so you can simply clear your mind and hang.

Extra Info

Inversions sessions are pretty easy-peasy...but here's some answers to questions you may have!
What do I wear?
Wear comfortable, breathable clothing to your session. While we always recommend layers to accommodate your comfort level, try to avoid the layers being too bulky. We don't want them to interfere with your body's contact with the table.
  • NO SKIRTS or DRESSES - Pants or shorts must be worn on the inversion table.
  • TENNIS SHOES MUST BE WORN - The bulk of an athletic shoe will ease pressure from your ankles as you invert and will make you 'feel' more safe and secure on the table. No bare feet, flip flops or slip ons will be able to be worn to your session.
How will I feel following my session?
As you return upright, you may feel a little lightheadedness. We'll urge you to remain on the table, upright, for a minute or two until everything in the body 'settles' back to normal. It is common to feel the shifts in your body directly following your session as you have lengthened and released within.
We'll urge you to hydrate following your session.
